Collaboration With Ruth Larkin, shown In 'Temple Bar Art Gallery' Dublin, Ireland

My auntie Ruth Larkin was a contemporary artist and created a lot of her work around her cancer, the Vitruvian man concept and how everything links to the Fibonacci sequence of numbers, 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34..the next number is found by adding up the two numbers before it. 
In her final few months Ruth asked me to collaborate with her in putting together a short film with her artwork linked to this concept and incorporating work based on her favourite tv show character, Betsy from a Tv Series called ‘Tales Of The Unexpected’ from the episode called ‘A Glowing Future’ The character Betsy finds out her husband has been cheating on her and takes revenge by cutting of his head and sending it to his new lover. Ruth made our family member dress up as the character Betsy and move around a number of objects such a Pea- tree dishes, which represent her cancer cells. I took a number of films and photographs of this witch were used in the final film.

Sadly Ruth passed away 16th of April before she got to finish her work therefore I decided to go through all of her art she had been creating for this animation/film and put them together with the videos and photos I took (she directed). I put them in time with a piece of music created by my second cousin Brian Bolger who is a composer. Brian worked with Ruth to create the music using notes that work with the Fibonacci sequence. The final piece was exhibited in an exhibition I helped set up in Ruths memory, held in Dublins 'Temple Bar Art Gallery' as Ruth regularly showcased her work there. The exhibition was called 'Vitruvian Man, The Unfinished Works Of Ruth Larkin' it took place October 2019.

Concept Animation Idea For King Of Rome By Joanna Harrison

I can not show the script as it is yet to be released however their is a scene in the script where a pigeon is flying in a storm. I decided to take inspiration for this and come up with some 2D animation ideas of pigeons and a stormy sky.  I was shown some concept art ideas of possible art styles they wanted and saw that many to me looked although they were done with water colour. The images looked very loose so I wanted my pigeon to have a loose hand drawn effect to it hence how when they turn around I make the pigeon abstract, just showing lines to represent movement

For both the pigeon animations and the sky animations I used a free iPad app called Animation Desk. I found this app partigularly helpful when animating the clouds as it had lots of different brush textures.

Overall I am most pleased with the sky animations. The smudge tool on Animation Desk made creating these tests very fun and easy to do. Overall it took me about two days to complete the sky tests.

Combining my bird tests with my sky animations;

Overall I feel to make this piece better I would do more animations of the bird and really map it out to make the bird animations fit better together I would also intertwine them more with the clouds, showing them fly through the clouds and having the clouds cover them from time to time.  I would also think more about the way the lighting would effect the bird and colour the frames accordingly
